How to purchase a simple floor fan at Wal-Mart:
Step 1: Search the floor of the store
Step 2: Locate window fans and box fans, fail to find floor standing fans
Step 3: Ask employee where floor fans are. Receive answer “we have no fan”
Step 4: Check window and box fan area again.
Step 5: Ask another employee where floor fans are. Receive answer in some form of Swahili “Sulawga.” Ask for clarification. He emphatically responds “Check e suwlaga!”
Step 6: Wander around store for 15 more minutes looking for fans.
Step 7: Accidentally come across floor fans out in the lawn and garden section.
Editors note: floor fans belong in neither your lawn nor your garden.
After you’ve located one, good luck making your way to the checkout.
I finally picked up the fan (which I am sure will break in 3 months) and headed for the exit. A sea of spandex, flip flops and NASCAR t-shirt wearing mouth breathers blocked my way. It was literally impossible to turn a corner or go through an aisle without someone smashing into me. A cacophony of yelling (mostly in Spanish) surrounds me. Finally I see the check out lane. On the way to my car, someone is beeping and yelling at others trying to drive out of the lot. The mouth breathers are everywhere with their shopping carts, thrusting themselves in front of me at every turn. Finally I am inside the car. My wife drives us out and we swear we will never come back again.
